Nikirhe is going to be playing Soccer this fall! We are very excited to star this new journey in our family! I'm officially going to be a Soccer Mom!!!! YAY! I can't wait to support my little girl and her team! I know for the first couple of years it will be mostly about learning the fundamentals but it is going to be so much fun taking pictures of her learning and watching her grown and excel at a sport and not just academically. She is going to be good at anything she does and I'm thankful for that but I know God has a plan for this girl!
We are starting a new schedule of sorts on Monday. I thought I might share with you!
Monday:
Bible Study
Phonics
Handwriting
History
Tuesday:

Math
Handwriting

Wednesday:

Thursday:

What I love about this schedule is that we can change it anytime we need to, to fit in sudden changes. We can take our time and work on it throughout the day and she doesn't feel like she is being confined to a desk and chair all day.
We can have FUN!!! We can a history lesson anywhere!!!! :)
We can work at around Soccer practice!!! YAY!!
I'd love to know what kind of schedules you work out for your family. Are you more of a traditionalist and have a more structured homeschool? Do you lean more toward unschooling?
Do you practice child lead learning more than anything else? I try to allow her to learn about what she is interested in but wanted to try giving her a format of some kind so she knows what to expect. She does well when she knows the plan ahead of time.
May God Bless You and Keep You In All You Do!

Verse of the Week
Genesis 16:13
You are the God who sees.
This says a LOT about our God! He sees. What does he see? Let us take a moment to examine that.
I asked my 4 year old, what does God see? These are her answers:
The Rainbow bridge
Rain
Sunshine
Kola bears
Us...
So I said lets talk about God seeing us for a min.
God can see our hearts
Our blood
Our bones
I don't know
"How about our attitude? "
Yeah our attitudes
Like our good ones and bad ones.
"That's right! How does God see our attitudes? "
I think he sees the bad ones and cries. Like when I get angry with .
"Wow, you're pretty smart! So how do you think we can change our attitudes to please God?"
I don't know...
"How about prayer?"
Yeah we can pray and ask God to help us! Right?
"That is exactly right sweetie! I'm so proud of you for understanding that God can help us change our attitudes! "
We went on to discuss how having a positive attitude while serving others blesses not only those we serve but God himself.
We ended our lesson with a prayer asking God to help us change our hearts so that we have better attitudes toward serving God, our family, and others.
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You,

Summer reading and more.
We are spending the majority of our summer reading books and playing with cousins!
It has been so much fun to be able to allow Nikirhe have the time this summer to just be a kid and play and not focus too much on home school. However we are going to be at it full swing after our family reunion is over August 10th. We are looking forward to starting History lessons this fall and we are going to be doing some much needed structured lessons. I have been pretty laid back about homeschool thus far but I know she needs more structure and it will help her to have a printed schedule she can see. So I will be helping her by creating that for her.
Well I've got more work to do and I'm looking forward to blogging more about what we are working on and what I am learning in this Journey we call homeschool!

Why I Choose to Homeschool
We took some time off and started working on Phonics this week. Nikirhe is loving her phonics and loves learning! I am so blessed to have a little scholar on my hands.
When we chose to become homeschoolers our baby was just weeks old. We had always talked about it before we had children, but I always wondered if I would be able to teach my child(ren) what they need to know.
The more I researched the more confidence I gained that I COULD & CAN teach my daughter what she needs to know to get into a good college and become anything she desires to become.
I started reading to her as soon as we brought her home from the hospital. We even began using the Your Baby Can Read dvd system when she was 4 months old, by 18 months she was recognizing word on signs around town. She is now 4 and reads at a 2nd grade level!!! I am so very proud of my beautiful girl. She is now learning math and handwriting and we are exploring history as well.
I am looking forward to creating this Homeschooling association with the ladies down here is Southern Oklahoma! I hope we can get something set up and keep working together to give our children the best possible chance at a bright and brilliant future!
